Alioscia Hamma

I'm a Professor in Quantum Information and Quantum Many-Body Physics at the University of Naples Federico II. My research focuses on understanding quantum complexity, entanglement, and quantum chaos in many-body systems, particularly through the lens of quantum information theory. I previously worked as a research fellow at the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics, and faculty member at both Tsinghua University and UMass Boston, where I made key contributions to our understanding of topological order and quantum phase transitions. My work has helped establish fundamental connections between quantum entanglement, quantum complexity, and quantum chaos. Recently, my research has centered on developing new theoretical tools to quantify and characterize quantum resources like magic states that are essential for quantum computing advantage. I've introduced novel entropy measures like the Stabilizer Rényi Entropy to probe non-classical features of quantum systems. I'm particularly interested in how these quantum resources emerge in many-body systems and their role in quantum thermalization, localization, and information scrambling.

Through my work, I aim to bridge quantum information theory, condensed matter physics, and quantum computing to better understand the fundamental nature of quantum systems and develop practical applications in quantum technologies. My research combines analytical techniques from quantum information theory with numerical methods to study both universal features and specific physical implementations.
